I often read proposals by Americans to fix gerrymandering by requiring complicated mathematical methods of dividing up states into districts. Those would fix the problem by taking human judgement out of it, but they end up with weird districts that would divide up towns without any respect for community boundaries.

Well, no, I wasn't making an argument but an observation that in one school in the early 90s there was an identifiable group of Hip fans and in another school in the mid 90s, the band had become pretty much universally liked among the different groups of students. I just thought it was interesting.

Based on my high school experience in the mid-90s, saying you don't like their fans is the equivalent of saying you don't like anybody.

Pretty much everytime I pass someone who's driving annoyingly, I'll say "You want to ride behind someone who does something that? I'm going to pull around him and leave him safely behind us."

I think part of what makes the original Vacation and Christmas Vacation good movies is that the heart of them is Clark trying to provide the perfect road trip vacation / Christmastime for his family, and just everything going wrong until he snaps and you can sympathize.
