This is a super-bad idea. Leveraged ETFs are for suckers. Do not buy them and hold them. Look up the “compounding effect.”
You can’t really day trade the VIX directly (unless you want to trade a lot of S&P options and constantly rebalance them), but you can day trade VXX, which is roughly (but not exactly) correlated.

Bullying is the wrong word, but I agree. The reporter shouldn’t have backed down. If Serena wants to tell the reporter why he’s wrong, then that’s fine and great and will lead to a reasoned answer to the question, like the one she gave.

This was good, although I wanted it to be longer—and it felt like the writer definitely lapsed into Wallace’s style at times, like he had to make an effort to avoid it. I feel that way sometimes when I read Bryan Curtis’s sportswriting as well.
