On the East Coast, Stony Brook University (part of SUNY) now is mainly Chinese - it’s hard for Americans to get in unless they first got an Associate Degree from the local community college, attached to the SUNY system.  Walk on campus, mostly Chinese.  Go to their concerts, same thing.

There are a fair number already, but they are expensive and don’t typically have battery capacity to get them through the night, short days, bad weather.  And they require piles of materials that are in short supply.

So when the sun is shining bright, great.  The arrays will be expensive; it would cost another fortune to create enough battery capacity (let alone the damage done to mine the materials for all this, possibly from the floor of the Pacific Ocean) to keep the factory going all the time regardless of weather.
