Are you kidding or trolling?
Which god? The one who drowned the world? The one who watched his own son crucified? The one who asked a father to kill his child? That god? You're going to have to be more specific because Western theists worship a blazing asshole of a god so you should really narrow it down a bit before you start in with that…
My understanding is that "hell" isn't really a concept in Judaism. There's various passages in the Torah that speak of spiritual suffering but it's generally understood to be metaphorical. The concept of a literal, eternal hell is a Christian addition.
Thanks,Hitler? :p
I answered that question once with "I guess I'm just a smarter, better person than you are" and I though their fucking head was going to pop off. Don't ask me questions when I'm drinking unless you want some snarky truth, hahaha
Racist against Atheists? Really? Racist? Oy.
I'm an atheist, and I think you're being outrageous. So...
Isn't it scary though, that some people assume that the only thing keeping people from raping and killing each other is a belief in a Big Disciplinarian in the Sky?
(Shrug) "It's common" is not, by itself, a very strong justification for doing things a certain way. If "it's the way things are usually done" were an adequate justification for anything, culture would never change, there'd be no social progress at all, and we'd be stuck in some sort of medieval stasis.

I'm pretty attached to my last name (probably for similar reasons as you — family history, etc.), so I get your trepidation about changing it. The thing is, I'm a woman, so when I don't change my last name on…
It's really interesting, how you feel about your last name is how I, and a lot of other women, feel about ours.
May you sire only daughters, and may the mother leave you after seeing what a blowhard you are.
Maiden name is a term that fills me with as much ire as does the phrase "Got daddy duty today?"
You must think the world is chock full of sad, shameful women.
a million times. I faced a rude awakening in my last relationship when I broached the notion that if I was going to give birth to a child it would have my name. I am not with him anymore.
That's the same argument I'd make about mine, however. "I'd never give up my last name, because...fuck, I'm a person! It's what people do!" People have identities. They're given a name, with intention and planning, and that name becomes part of their identity. No one should be expected to sacrifice his or her…
Could it be because all babies look like squat, fat little men?
A mishmash of Hulk-rage, hope, a thirst for justice, and witchcraft. Depending on the day.
