I would argue that Pokemon is a bigger cash grab though; at least with Fates, each game has it’s own plot, characters, stages, and (maybe) even classes. Pokemon on the other hand, has 2 to 3 versions with the same plot, the same mechanics, the same map, and only differ in terms of which Pokemon you can find.

So I had difficulty playing Radiant Dawn, but had generally no problem with Awakening. How does Conquest and Birthright compare to the two?
