You’re confusing need and want. I think low-income people should have access to things they want too, for the record. If someone wants to use food stamps to buy steak and lobster tails for a special occasion, good for them. EBT user carrying a designer purse and a new iPhone? There could be any number of reasons for

Exactly. A low-income person using a thrift store to clothe themselves and their families needs practical, basic clothing. They don’t need a Penny Lane from Almost Famous jacket and a patchwork skirt. Removing those items from the supply chain does nothing to harm low-income people.

That’s exactly the point. She is doing the labor for them that they don’t have the time or the inclination to do. That’s the basis of trade. Exchanging money for goods and services. In this case, she’s offering both goods and a service.

I realize this is a video game website, but you’d think they would have been able to find someone who knows even a little bit about basketball and the NBA. The basketball portions of the article sound like they were written by an alien.

I was gonna say, this is The Ringer erasure.

Fisher wasn’t acting alone. She was part of a larger campaign spearheaded by Mary McCormack, the wife of To Leslie’s director. She was acting on behalf of the film just a press agent sending out materials would be. While Fisher was certainly not the biggest name involved, I don’t think you or I can say how influential

First of all, your tone snarky, condescending tone is unnecessary. I started out by saying that I mostly agreed with you. Not sure why that was your cue to get all hostile. I suppose I said the fuck word in my previous comment, but you’ve escalated tenfold and I don’t appreciate it.

The fuck it is. You said that Maron is right and people are only salty because it was a grassroots campaign winning out over the big studios. If a big studio had posted on social media that people didn’t need to vote for the only two black actresses in the running because they were already a lock and could safely vote

Is the assumption that either Davis or Deadwyler were in competition for the 5th spot and then Riseborough swooped in and pushed them out of it?

You have a point, but here’s the thing...

Yeah. I know Liberia preexisted Lincoln. Good info though!

Yeah. Lincoln being an abolitionist was the whole reason the Civil War started to begin with, because the South freaked out when he was elected. If you want to criticize him, it should be, as you said, that he didn’t consider black people equal or think they could ever integrate. He was a big proponent of sending

Do you have a source for that? I’m seeing that his wife’s family owned slaves, but everything I’m reading online says neither he nor she ever did as far as we know. It wasn’t even legal to own slaves in Illinois.

Thank you. I agree that the Emancipation Proclamation was more strategic than moral, but I was very confused about the Lincoln owning slaves part. Weird comment by Berman, but old white men gonna old white man.

I agree that it’s a weird, borderline gross comment by Berman and that Lincoln’s motivation for the Emancipation Proclamation was more strategic than moral. But where are you reading that Lincoln owned slaves, Noah? To my knowledge and based on everything I can find online, that’s not true.

To be fair, Spider-Man Noir was already a character from the comics before Into the Spider-Verse. A serious character and not a joke.

(like costar Kate Winslet)

Bee Movie?

I want an eyeroll for when someone plays Shang-Chi turn six.

Yeah. I’ve used it both positively and negatively, to be honest. When a player snapped and I won anyway, I’ve used it as a taunt. When I lost and was impressed by the combo that beat me, I’ve used it as a genuine congratulations. Though people tend to use the fist bump more for the latter I’ve found.
