She took the kids to McDonald’s three times in the same weekend. That’s pretty extreme. Especially after promising she wouldn’t take them there anymore.

It sounds like they were spending time with the grandmother every weekend and she was feeding them nothing but junk food.
Here, here. Happy that The Great Departure coincided with Sundance at least so we get one last hurrah from Katie and Alex. Would have been extra sad if their last reviews for the sight had been The 355 and Gamestop: Rise of the Players.
Yeah. Spielberg made a lot of smart choices. Kept enough of what made the original great while changing just enough to make it feel fresh.
I get why people were down on the idea of it. The original film is basically perfect outside of the brownface. No real reason to remake it other than to recast the lead roles with actual puerto rican people. But after seeing it, it seems obvious that we should have expected it to be good. Spielberg is an incredibly…
I can compliment his taste on this particular film. It’s quite good, despite having to look at Ansel Elgort’s potato face.
I saw both Dual and After Yang as well and also thought of Lanthimos and Her respectively. Makes me feel smart to have a similar take to an esteemed professional critic. I really dug both of them as well and would recommend that everyone check them out once they’re widely available.
Assuming there’s any commentariat left after the end of the month. Don’t know if I can keep visiting and commenting in good conscience after Alex, Katie, Mara, et al. move on.
In a just world you would.
How much you want bet...?
what many of them apparently didn’t realize is that this ending is...weirdly closer to what happens in the book.
That’s confusing to me because I’ve had a video geoblocked for copyright violations. I uploaded an obscure Brazilian film and they automatically blocked it over music rights in a handful of countries but allowed it in the US and the rest of the world. Though granted, that was without any monetization, so maybe that’s…
Eminem flies commercial
And it nearly ruined the movie!
I definitely agree. It’s not the scathing attack on the American capitalist war machine that some MCU fans would like to pretend it is. I’m just saying that it seems like the DoD has denied films for flimsier reasons.
Yeah. I’m not totally sure where they draw the line. They approved Iron Man, which is somewhat critical of war and weapons manufacturers, but they’ve denied other films for seemingly similar reasons.
Yeah. The DoD has to read your script and make sure it’s not just a naked screed against them before allowing you to use government vehicles, logos, etc. But they’re not demanding edits of finished films and it’s easy enough to get around their approval by simply not using their property. It’s no different than having…
While I agree that the ending of Fight Club is perfect as it is, this is basically just the ending of the novel. The bombs malfunction and the narrator ends up in a mental institution.
Have you ever seen “alright” in an actual book, magazine, or newspaper, where it wasn’t part of a song title or something like that?
Yeah. If nothing else, they should casually drop Latveria as a place that exists before the Fantastic 4 movie.
