Thank you! This same thing has bothered me since I saw the movie. It’s clear that whoever wrote it doesn’t understand video games at all.
I honestly don’t know how the smaller companies stay in business with as little sales as they do. The overhead must be really low.
I love Comixology. It’s a really well-designed site.
Hickman’s House of X/Powers of X is must-read. His Secret Wars from a few years ago were as well. Comics are a lot better now than they were in the 80s and people are just too wrapped up in nostalgia.
Yes. People need comics right now and they’ve shut off the supply. It’s really stupid.
The fact that you think a 1% drop isn’t stable is hilarious.
I can’t speak for every publisher, but the big two are already releasing all of their comics digitally as well and they can already be pirated. The problem is that they still give primacy to the physical books and still rely on a single distributor with dumb, antiquated rules.
I like reading physical books. They feel nice in your hands and have no real drawbacks other than the space they take up. Floppies have never had that same appeal to me. Though the fact that I didn’t grow up reading them much probably has a lot to do with it.
It’s always struck me as supremely ridiculous that the comics industry is so antiquated in terms of distribution. I’ve been digital only save the few comics I buy in trades since I first got into comics in my early 20s. I truly don’t get why anyone would want a bunch of cheap, flimsy pieces of paper taking up space in…
I love them both, but that movie looks so bad. One of the only upsides theaters being closed is that it saved me from having to see the trailer for the hundredth time.
My wife was a bartender at some fancy restaurants while finishing school, so she makes flavored syrups for us pretty regularly. Her most recent was a rosemary simple syrup. I had reservations, but it was really good with some bourbon and lemon juice. She made a blood orange syrup that turned out really well a few…
It’s Bang Bang Shrimp, actually. But I was reminded of that while reading this as well.
The Stones have more swagger and were cooler in their heyday, but the Beatles wrote and recorded more undeniably great songs in their 10 years together than the Stones have in 58 years as a band.
I mean, it’s in Wikipedia the way I describe it. Though they break it down between mechanical and optical.
Practical as opposed to digital. They’re both special effects.

Have you been to a clothing store lately? Well, not lately lately, but before the lockdown lately? It’s hard to find clothes for young people that don’t look like they came straight from the 90s.
President Trump fired the watchdog who was supposed to oversee the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, without even giving an explanation.
Not just lovely. “Good and kind.” I guess the idea is that they were giving people hope in a dark time, but reminding the plebes that you and your friends are quarantined in a mansion while they’re stuck in a 500 sq ft apartment with a roommate and a cat isn’t a great way to do that.
