I agree,5 years makes sense for mass market and for companies to turn profits on them. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more tv models even without native content for them to start showing up in rich consumer homes.

I don’t think they are a ways off, LG and Sony have both shown off 8K with video as CES style shows. I mean, it’s a ways off for me for sure, because I don’t even have a 4k yet because money lol.  But I wouldn’t be surprised seeing companies start to promote it.
