This. OP also doesn’t seem to practice redundancy very well and doesn’t seem to realize that SSDs also have a finite lifespan. You should setup RAID on your systems if you want true redundancy, and you know, don’t have your external drives anywhere close to where anything can bump them.

This! Could end up saving you a lot of money. However with the symptoms he described, most likely isn’t related. Shimmies usually result in the compressor simply not kicking back on, but if it does and is noisy, it usually means the compressor’s innards are borked.
