Well she’s being “blue” cos she is sad that her boyfriend dumped her for a completely different astronaut, and she’s pale because she’s enraged cos her boyfriend dumped her for a completely different astronaut.

It could be that the diaper stuff isn’t true, like a cop’s exaggeration that grew with the story. Like, if that was the one thing she denied (“Sure, I was going to torture my love rival with a drill, but no way did I wear a diaper”) then maybe she’s telling the truth about it.

Why didn’t they just call the character “Dot” then?

I agree. The BBC killed off the third series, partly because it was so expensive (for the time), but mostly because the BBC (Michael Grade) hated all forms of science fiction. He killed off Doctor Who a few years later.

Well on the face of the outline above, it would appear that the noteworthy female role is to be a victim, in order for the men to have something to react to. These days we prefer heroines with a bit more agency than that.

Surely she would just snap their necks with a slightly bored expression if they tried anything untoward.

For a brief happy moment, I was hoping this was going to be an adaptation of the sci-fi trilogy The Tripods”, which is probably due a reboot in the internet age. What the Earth is like after the “Martians” win.

We only do that because we assume you chaps would be disappointed otherwise. Most Brits were never upper class, nor the direct servants of the same. But if historical adventures are to carry any kind of realism, those are the sort of people who would have zany adventures. Pro EEC, and the free trade it brought. Less so the EU, which is a more openly political enterprise. She was quite notably out of step with a number of other European leaders, but as long as the money kept going won’t and communism was kept at bay, who cares?

Look, I’m not blind to what’s going on here, but I cannot authorize that kind of action, I’m sorry.

But will it be completed on schedule?

“Yeah, I was wondering why that scene was so prominent in the trailers yet missing from the actual movie.”

A planet can have a year (time to orbit around its star) being shorter than its day (time to revolve around its own axis).  Weird but possible.

[“hyperspace turns out to be hell”) has the potential to be re-implemented a multitude of ways.]

Yep, to me it feels like above-average “shark TV” like 24. If you worry about whether the plot makes sense you will miss the fun stuff.

Like the survivors of an apocalypse, sifting through the detritus of a once-great civilization.

Maybe Tyra is a human name. And it’s not like the Silmarillion is bursting with named female characters. They are usually either someone’s mother or someone else’s tragic love interest. I suspect there are more named Valar/Maiar than named mortal females...
