It could be that the diaper stuff isn’t true, like a cop’s exaggeration that grew with the story. Like, if that was the one thing she denied (“Sure, I was going to torture my love rival with a drill, but no way did I wear a diaper”) then maybe she’s telling the truth about it.

I agree. The BBC killed off the third series, partly because it was so expensive (for the time), but mostly because the BBC (Michael Grade) hated all forms of science fiction. He killed off Doctor Who a few years later.

For a brief happy moment, I was hoping this was going to be an adaptation of the sci-fi trilogy “The Tripods”, which is probably due a reboot in the internet age. What the Earth is like after the “Martians” win.
