Other idea - I sometimes set a timer on a loop. Each time it goes off I get to change tasks. I often stay a bit longer to get something finished up, but it catches me and gets me back on track if I get distracted while cleaning...

Interesting, but missing a few things keeping it from being all that useful (or honest):
Sometimes. It depends on how far gone the drive is, but if you try it restore the most important files first as clicks tend to only get worse and even if it works for awhile it may die forever rather quickly.
As a biochemistry professor who just taught on this a few weeks back, I might add a two quick things (one nerdy, one practical):
This is so important. The stats are very clear the best thing you can do for your kids is be committed to your spouse. I can’t tell you how many friends I have had whose parents got divorced within 5 years of them going off to college because the kids were the only thing holding them together. Certainly kids shouldn’t…
I think the point was more alone time together which is different once you have kids. I plan to go out more than that annually as well, but it will take some intentional (and probably we’ll cut it to 3-5 days) to do that without the kids even every couple years.
Yes, but it can even just be an after the kids are in bed you have a nice dessert, watch a movie together, etc. Alternatively, find another family with kids that you trust and setup some kind of swap where alternating weeks, or even just once a month, you watch each others’ kids for an evening out.
This works. I often use cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, and my wife made a pizza with a cauliflower crust awhile back that was better than a normal crust. Cauliflower is your friend.
Totally agree. I had the most success diet wise when I was eating huge salads. Even when salad wasn’t the main course, a big one was the first course so I would eat less of everything else. Lost over 25 lbs in a couple months and never felt hungry. For me the other big thing was allowing myself to use enough of…
As a geneticist I wish more people knew this. In the old question of nature vs nurture, it is almost always both. There are things like Huntington’s, Sickle Cell Anemia, etc. which are purely genetic, but most disorders identify predispositions that should motivate lifestyle choices to minimize the largest risks, but…
That is about what I thought, but Psychology is a bit outside my discipline so I appreciate hearing an expert’s explanation. Thanks, and I agree 100% with the importance of privacy.
It seems like every time someone commits a crime and has ever spoken about an issue with a psychologist the issue of disclosure comes up with the assumption that they should have known or they should have shared what little they knew with the police. Can you speak a little about confidentiality between a therapist and…
Craftsman for hand tools as they have a lifetime warranty, but power tools I haven't found Craftsman to be anything special - not bad, but not spectacular either.
A computer security expert talking about what steps they actually take to secure their own devices.
Vote: Polk Atrium II
Why: If you are looking for a quality speaker that can handle the elements, typical Polk quality won’t disappoint. These sound great and can handle high volumes without distortion. A few times a year they go on sale for just under $100, making them pretty affordable too. You do need to bring your…
Amen. Often I find it is easier to give the money, and then just tell the person that when they can repay me they should save that money to give to someone else who needs it. Even when I do lend it to someone and insist I don’t need it back in any sort of hurry it can get a little awkward, but as long as you think of…
And then have a nightmare of a time cleaning it.
My wife and I love Top Gear - one of our absolute favorite shows.
Clarkson is one of the best parts of Top Gear - it won't be the same without him.
I still think they made the right decision to fire him.
Very good rule of thumb. My dad is the VP at an engineering firm and he always bills ~2-2.5x what he will pay his employee to cover overhead including vacation time, medical benefits, retirement benefits, equipment costs, and space costs. If you bill yourself out at much less than 2x what you could have earned per…
I'll admit that between scholarships and my parents I left undergrad with no loans. That said, I am now in a position where I would be able to easily pay off any loans I did have, which I could never have attained without my degrees.
