Read the first volume of Harrow County which was amazing. I'm sure Comixology is going to have a sale on them in October so I'll hold off on the rest until then. About to read the collected Snyder's Batman Vol 1-10 and see if it is as good as they say.

I fall into the category of "looks like an Animorph stuck halfway between transformations" myself.

Literally. That entire iceberg was CGI. And Billy Zane is obviously a cartoon characters name.

But would society's oppressed people's stand aside as mutants were stripped of their rights and rounded up or killed for something they had no choice in? There's some wiggle room there for how much they overlap, but often it is way too heavy-handed.

Sounds like you need to spice up your life! Take them away, Spice Guards!

I'm excited for P5D for the remixes (most of which were awesome in P4D) but the one they chose for the trailers was just terrible. I imagine the storyline for P5D will be we rewrote the fate of the entire planet and our fate is TO DANCE!!

The Fringe finale ended up logically confusing, but oh so emotionally fulfilling.

To be honest, "The Gunslinger" was such a perfect encapsulated story, I never felt the need to read anymore of The Dark Tower series. I got enough of the Crimson King in Insomina.

I was someone who was confident about themselves in several ways. My sexuality, my staunch refusal to entertain "novelty" Oreo flavors, my ability to list things. But then I met Birthday Cake-flavored Oreos and my world turned upside-down.

Watching lots of Law & Order: SVU (Meloni-seasons only) 'cause it's dumb and I like asking the TV if it was necessary to use that particular offensive epithet anytime they come up. I love it when you can pinpoint the exact moment a character stops being a character and blurts out a fucking journal article title and

I made shakshuka for the first time on a whim last night and it was pretty tasty! An achievement for me because my cooking/baking drive has really fallen off in the last year due to reasons.

I saw JAWS for the first time in years in a theater and the terror definitely grew with the screen size. It also helps that I focus on movies way more in the theater than at home which explains why I forgot some of the scenes completely.

That and all the fucking ads for This Is Us (and Mandy Moore's stupid face!) made me finally bite the bullet and pay for the ad-free subscription.

He's just a boy, standing in front of a girl, asking her to help him kill his dad

Yes I totally agree. I think King was holding up a monster like IT as the source to give us a thrill and to say "you think any monster I can come up with is more terrifying than situations we see, or hear, or read about everyday?" IT prays on fears that are both very distinct and abstract that children are filled with.

That's what I loved most about the book. A community where pain and suffering of the most vulnerable members is marginalized by people who could do something to stop it is scary when you can blame it on a shape-shifting monster who has mystical powers. But it is down right terrifying when you live in reality where

"My child emerged from Atomic Blonde with a new-found appreciation for post-war reconstruction of Germany's identity when literally and figuratively divided by Soviet and US interests. And women kissing each other."

I imagine it is way easier to market toys to kids of animated characters. Otherwise you pay for an actor's likeness and the toy doesn't even end up looking like them.

Fairly certain she only contributed vocals to this one, but I'm a pretty big fan of it.
