Saucy take right here, folks!
Saucy take right here, folks!
Oh, it’s nothing that exciting. Dad had one for years, and every morning I’d hear it when he drove to work. Then the next door neighbor bought it from us, so I’d still hear it occasionally. And of course they’re fairly prolific such that for years you’d hear them in the parking lots (in Chrysler Jeeps).
AMC straight 6 — that’s one sound I’ll never forget.
So instead of a shoey we have a braey?
Hi Mr. Nantz!
When I was in public accounting (might be going back...ugh), the best part of the job was going on plant visits. The memorable ones are when I got to see the Volvo truck plant in Virginia -- for obvious reasons -- and when I counted inventory at a BASF plant in South Carolina where they made carpet fiber. Absolutely…

X5000.
Not sure if you’ve seen this before, but it is perhaps my favorite video on all of YouTube — anyone who is an airplane enthusiast should watch it. I’ll be sad when they’re all gone.
If you’re ever lucky enough to sit in first class on a Maddog, the best part is being able to hear the AGL callouts from Bitching Betty.
Thank you. Aside from the piano black for CUE and surrounding the gear shift, and chrome strip surrounding said CUE stuff, I struggle to find these “hard plastics” in my CTS. Maybe I don’t caress the underside of the front seats as much as I should?
Apologies if it’s already been discussed in another article, but I’m intrigued by the ability to use the touchscreen while wearing gloves. I’d love to hear how they did this — it doesn’t look like a resistive touchscreen but I’m no expert.
I’m so tired of people taking massive dumps on CUE. Are there things I’d change? Absolutely. But I just don’t understand the unbridled hate. Maybe you and I are outliers (I doubt it), but I use the steering wheel controls 99% of the time and have no issues. Or maybe we’re just two people who don’t fiddle with…
Amidoinitrite?
A reported asked JPP if he gave Gettleman the finger after their meeting, and he replied, “No, I don’t pop off like that anymore.”
I guess those extra appendages on the taillights are going to spread across the model range now. No thanks. I’m struggling now as to what my next vehicle will be, as I’m not really feeling where things are headed. (I think I’m one of the few not impressed with the Escala.)
I used to say that the most advanced feature of my ‘85 were the front disc brakes...
Short shifter, you say? (Yes, I know this is a different type of transmission, but work with me here...)
Damnation...got Kinja’d. Was supposed to be the Cord 810/812 preselector.
GM had the door-keypad thingy for a brief moment. This 1985 brochure is the only place I’ve ever seen it, and I never saw one in the wild.
I’ve thought about doing an Oppo post about this before. Seems to be a GM thing, and it drives my accountant-OCD brain crazy. On my CTS, 70 mph is straight up, but the speedo goes to 160, which should be 80 in the middle. My mom’s old Delta 88 was similar (I think 60 was straight up), although it was only a 140 mph…
