It's the testing on millions of people YOU didn't bother to read. Testing on small sample sizes is useless. Basically by releasing GMOs to the public, we would be the beta testers. If some side effect happens, it's just "oops, sorry", we'll pull it off the shelf.
Too bad this article never mentioned the fact that GMO fields can contaminate regular fields. Even worse, as GMOs are patented, GMO companies can sue farmers who never asked for this. Is it safe or not? Nobody seems to know for sure, but GMOs are damaging biodiversity, and that might be a huge problem...
