Perhaps having seen the devastation ebola can cause she could understand why the US might want to be extra cautious about people who are potentially infectious. But no.

I think one option would have been to tell Matt WHY the quarantine is inhumane, WHY it is not based in science, WHY it is not a realistic or helpful treatment option, WHY Christie's posturing is straight-up politickin'.

I'm starting to hate this woman. Many health care workers have become infected and none of them think they have the disease until they come down with it. Luckily they haven't managed to contaminate anyone else yet in the US, but it has been pretty much luck. It's great that she went out to Africa and did what she

I might be wrong, but she seems like kind of an asshole.

I think that the way that Hickox was treated in New Jersey, and specifically in Christie's public statements, was terrible and unacceptable. To be forced to stay in an unheated tent, with no flushing toilet, is absurd and a compromise of her rights. We need to treat health care workers who come back from Africa better

I'm hereby calling this, "The Slutterfly."

And yet you didn't mention any of that initially, just repeating that the family was insistent on no narcotics and that they get to decide because they have power of attorney. The fact that a physician recommended a different regime is a key detail, not a minor one. The way you initially described it, your friends

I hate the people who are totally fine all day and then a relative shows up and suddenly they're in pain, dirty, hungry, and have been ignored all day. They walked themselves to the bathroom 30 minutes ago but now that their daughter is here they need max assistance.

Note to self: Before signing over DPOA to someone, make sure that said person is ok with me receiving narcotics so that I'm not thrashing around and screaming "mama, mama" from the pain of dying. Also, I will make sure that the person I give DPOA to doesn't think that it's impossible for doctors to adjust the levels

Man, who knew POA was so powerful. Let's hope they don't decide he needs to lose a limb. With no anesthetic, because hey, family decision and it's a POA, the hospital has to follow it. It's ironclad. We just learned that on the internet.

Nurses are required to treat patient reports of pain. Family members do not get to decide no pain medicine for a family member. I can only imagine that someone on "death's door" is probably in a fair amount of pain.

I'm going to reserve judgement until we find out how annoying these people were.

Sophia from the Golden Girls.

You're welcome.

Popcorn popper. It's the best: easy, healthy popcorn at your finger tips, with the excitement of late popping kernel explosions in the bowl.

Rice cooker - I also use it for quinoa and some other grain-type things, but 90% of the time I just use it for rice. To be fair, I am Asian but my equally Asian sister stone-cold refuses to give up the space for an appliance that can only do one thing.

Well, shit. You've got about a 50/50 chance of divorce anyway. So, bring on the skating rink diamond! Divorce is always a little easier to handle when you know you've got yourself a nice little nest egg should things follow the nationally-recognized trend regardless.
