We’re due for a great puppet reckoning once the public starts hearing about where the so-called “puppetmasters” have been putting their hands.

I don’t like it when fans “demand” that some celebrity say something or stand up for their causes. It’s creepy and weird. They don’t owe you that. Also, once you “demand” it, then it becomes performative, even if it’s how they truly feel. 

I think people forget that not everyone has the same level of engagement with social media or the news and that many people’s first response to hearing distressing information about a friend or former coworker may not be to address it in a public forum.

Oh believe me, I don’t doubt they threatened her with releasing underage pics of her. All I’m saying is, these dipshits are pretty dumb to threaten to release something they could (and should) be arrested just for having.

Exactly. “If you don’t comply, I will do something that will get myself arrested,” isn’t the best blackmail plan I’ve heard.

Not related to issue at hand, but I keep misreading the first word of her name and keep thinking all these headlines say “Even Rachel Woods,” making me wonder who “Rachel Woods” is.

It’s ultimately a dumb plan, but I feel like it’s unfortunately still safe to bet on a woman’s career being damaged by the release of nude photos.

Also of course the point may be to not actually do it but to shame/scare her into silence.

It is a dumb idea, but it’s exactly what an abuser would do, and to some degree it would work because people would in fact turn on her. Not saying he would come out ahead, but misogyny and slut/victim-shaming are powerful.

Stupid question, but how is releasing photos of some technically illegal but rarely enforced activity that is far beyond the statue of limitations going to destroy her career? If anything, it strikes me as a bad idea given that it’s more evidence that she was plied with illegal substances by an abusive partner.
