Producing our own would be logical and beneficial, but this current administration is full of political activists who are ignorant in their rush to move to green energy. In the meantime we ship oil from other countries who pollute the environment much more than we would. And by the way, those tankers run on the

Headline should be “key broke so backup unavailable from, lack of internet confirmation”  Fun thing.  They have a hardwired access card he could have used to get the car moving.

Annoying, yes. Also - why isn’t he using his phone as a key? Keyfob? That’s problem #1. But I digress.

y’know, 30 minutes ago I may’ve said NP.. but after reading the article about how I can get a new ‘23 hybrid Corolla with zero miles (and a warranty!) for less that $2k more than this 4-year-old Hyundai with 69k miles? CP, all day long.

ND. Not because this is a bad car or anything, but because the Bolt costs a few grand more and can be had brand new with more capability. If you’re on the used market, a used Leaf will have similarly weak range vs the newest EVs, but is way cheaper. I don’t see a reason to spend $20k on this car.

Presumably city MPG figures on hybrids and EVs have always been higher than highway MPG because during start-stops, you’re able to regen to put some power back, where there isn’t really any regen going on during highway driving.

Yup hybrid’s run off the battery a higher percentage of the time in city driving.  I think, probably wrong it runs in battery mode only up to a certain speed.

You’ve been wrong. Hybrids have always been “reversed” in that respect.

Honestly this is extremely tempting as a commuter car. Extremely tempting.

That’s a good point, I think it would. And it’s just butchy enough that it might not be treated as poorly as the CC.

It has to be this

Exactly. I imagine the average EV owner spends less time refueling in a typical year than a gas car owner. It’s like asking someone how long it takes their phone to charge. Does anyone even know? it happens overnight, why should they care? When people realize it’s the same use-case for an electric car, it will be

OK, calling bullshit on this as someone who regularly (like 4-6 times a month) drives 450 miles in a day.

450 miles is a 7 hour drive with no stops. And while I can drive 450 miles without refueling in my current car, That drive still usually takes me 8+ hours.
Because I still have to stop for food, stop to pee, stop

I mean even when we include enivronmental impacts of EV materials it is still better than ICE and Diesel vehicles. Not to mention battery recycling is far ahead of pretty much any other recycling since it can actually be profitable to the recycler. (Tesla uses old vehicle battery cells in their Power Walls for

Not good enough for you, maybe.  But 18 minutes is perfectly fine for me.  Particularly when you consider that, unlike gas cars, you’ll almost never have to leave home without a full charge.

I agree.  Sub 20 minutes is already pretty good.

If they can get that recharge time down to sub 10-minutes to get to that same 75-80%, I could see a lot more adoption as long as there is the infrastructure in place.

Current generation E-GMP platform (Ioniq 5, Kia EV6) is up to 80% in 18 minutes. I would say that’s already about time-parity with stopping at an interstate rest area to fuel up, re-park the car, use the restroom, and the occasional burger grabbed from McDonalds.

Lol my son was born in April 2020 and has been to plenty of amusement parks, aquariums, water parks, grocery stores, etc...  Time to let him out of the bubble.

The rona has passed over, those that are going to be vaccinated have gotten the shot. Its time to come outside again friend. you did you job, its time to relax.

Left-on-red is a bit rarer, but still useful.
