For a lot of people - Marie Le Pen - perhaps, that's true. But most who've moved to France were desperate to come there and will need great incentive to return.

I do hope you’re a Muslim woman because this ban is not about men and women but what is and is not French in the minds of xenophobes.

The thing is, as the post makes clear, there's been an overreach and a broadening of what those two things mean. If you're interested in maintaining them, you need to be equally committed to identifying the lines.

I have to think it should be less. She has paid the price already with her life. Would we charge a woman who escaped a rapist captor with murder if that’s the only way she was able to escape?

I think this is more proof that intention needs to be the main reason people get shit. And we can usually tell who's intentions are good and who's a secret racist.

I get the need to report this, but is it really that surprising? If you’re looking at it by the numbers, this basically comes out to “Republicans think sexism is over”.

Come on...I’m speaking to the specific circumstance of romantic and sexual life. Men do not have to fear women.

The thing is we’ve really turned to comedians to be the purveyors of news and culture. Wilmore was a unique voice on the news and culture front, but the show was not funny. The reality is that the peak Daily Show and Colbert Report audience was, yes, fairly educated. The people who populated those shows were educated

I’m making no comment on the case and this situation with my comment, but I think the old “there’s a lot I’s” therefore that’s selfish thing doesn’t have a lot of play in reality. It’s a convenient, easy to digest dismissal. I don’t think it’s sound reasoning though.

Tom honestly does strike me as phoney, but I love his work professionally. He's charming. That often comes with baggage.

The opposite of sex appeal? She was built like a model. Her first records played it safe as, probably, both a reflection of her own youth and as she got slightly older the cultivation of an audience.

Uh huh

Huh?

When and how has she done that?
