I am not a parent but mentioned downthread that my fencing coaches have had increasing levels of difficulty with younger kids than before. A traditional grip in fencing requires the same motor/ finger strength as a “proper” pencil grip.

In all honesty, there is a little grain of truth to this mess. The kids I see today write like shit, my own handwriting (which: Catholic school, meaning immaculate in the day) has noticeably degraded, and older folks like my parents still have perfect handwriting.
