Paris was supposed to be good ole Nick Locarno, but the writers didnt want to pay royalties. It is a shame, because they could have gone so far with the Locarno character.

TNG had the strongest finale by far, and most of it can be attested to the strength of the ensemble. The main cast seemed to have an affinity that has been missing in every Trek series, and the sheer visual of Picard dropping in on the poker game he had always avoided to be with his “space family” is poetic.

That was basically the entire plot of one of TNGs best episodes, season 3s “The survivors ”. Troi HAD to be incapacitated because as Kevin himself notes to Picard, her abilities had allowed her to to discern who he really was.

Hell, Face of the Enemy was more or less a bottle episode and she knocked it out.

Season 2 is mostly garbage, though Measure of a Man and The Icarus Factor are pretty good.
