This is way to many words written about a non-problem. Anyone can create a server and it’s up to them to moderate it. Just like teamspeak and vent and the rest. If they choose not to moderate it, then it’s up to the people hanging out there to decide if they want to be thee or not. No one is forced to remain in

Exactly. You don’t get it. These aren’t “widgets.” These are dollars, and people use them to buy the stuff they need to survive. When they’re done with that, what’s left is called expendable income.

Facebook needs a professional or trusted moderator system to rate shared articles or even shared sources based on journalistic standards.

The exact methods by which items appear on Facebook’s trending news section are somewhat mysterious (Facebook doesn’t want to reveal all of its internal tech secrets, makes sense, they’re a private company, etc etc etc) but it seems like they used to have people in charge of it who didn’t like low-quality news;

....thus asking whatever happened too it...and here we sit, with a left leaning Gawker/Gizmodo Media Group blog lamenting that the corporate overlords didn’t do more to stifle speech and thought because the result of an election isn’t to their liking.

The premise of this article is somewhat undermined by the PPI scam adverts beneath it.

So we want FB policing peoples thoughts and comments and to do so we are going to label them as ‘media’ to hold them accountable.

This would be a far cooler site without the blatant Peter Theil obsession.

This isn’t a direct criticism against the website or the interviewee at hand, but thoughts around the subject.

I’m used to seeing things like this on io9. Several people share a reasoned criticisms of your comments so, rather than actually engaging with the points raised, you divert attention to a particular inflammatory comment from someone else entirely (as if to say, “look at what I’m dealing with... they deserve it”).

A SJW is short for Social Justice Warrior. It is a pejorative for the insufferable young white people that come from homes and families of wealth and privilege that they have become consumed by their own guilty of having been born white that they feel it is their mission to speak on behalf of all those poor minorities

People like you who think things that make them uncomfortable should never be seen by anyone else are what scare me.

And the question answers itself: none, outside the sensibilities of the artist. The artist sends their work out into the world, to be reacted to, to be judged, to be valued (or devalued), by people wielding those multiple competing moral stances and ethical codes which you referred to. The moral decisions, if any,

Let me take a different side here and say that I’m always a little worried about placing morality as an ultimate arbiter of artistic expression. Not because you’re being irrational—not thinking that women getting raped on television makes for good entertainment is actually a pretty unassailable stance—but because

This is a blatant case of journalists not actually looking past literally the first sentence of their source material. Yes those pictures are of the apple watch. They are supposed to be. They are used in the part of the document which describes how what Samsung is patenting is different from established designs.

Like this? Because this is what the patent is actually for but BI just glossed over that when they initially wrote up this piece...

THIS is what Samsung’s patent is about. Fig 11A is in a section showing how other watches are DIFFERENT.

You know what they say about assuming, right? ;)
