I'd still watch the PBS news hour and Chris Hayes when I remember to tune in.

I'm not sure this is outrage as much as exasperation. This should never have even left committee, and there shouldn't be a big enough block to be called a constituency supporting this sort of thing.
As a devout Christan: *psst*- Blackwell, your insecurity in your faith is showing.
OK I understand that part, and I have some sympathy for the fact that he was effectively a stranger in a strange land without a map or compass to guide him, and he was doing what he thought was best. It's not good practice to "beg the question" (to use the term properly) but sometimes it's the best we can do.
I had the same thought. This is an interesting result, but I don't see that this study had proven whether this behavior is learned or an evolutionary adaptation. It maybe that this learned behavior yields an evolutionary advantage, but that doesn't make it automatically a product of Evo. Psych.
This is very timely for me, as I've been considering going to Republic for a while now. The description of who it's a good fit for fits me me pretty well, though the hate for the phone gives me a little pause. I guess I'll keep watching their blog for new phone releases before I jump in. I've waited this long to…
I thought that one of the advantages to T-mobile was wi-fi calling was baked in:
T-mobile has had wi-fi calling for five or six years now. When it first came out there was a plan built around the idea and there was a story on NPR it; apparently they performed the hand-off nearly seamlessly in conversation - less than a 1/2 second pause in the conversation. At first, the only thing that wasn't…
What harm do you think has been done by misinterpreting Money?
Doesn't everyone do some version of this? My life would be perfect if only... It says something about social conditioning that women almost universally do this about beauty, but I promise guys do this too, just not universally focused on their own pulchritude.
True enough, and after I made my comment it occurred to me that 5 books supporting the Baby Boomer generation's apparent belief that they discovered sex is probably sufficient.
I'm a little surprised the Hite Report didn't make the list. It's definitely in the same caliber as 1-5.
The obvious answer is to stop giving tax breaks to churches.
I hadn't thought about the environmental impact of that zinc plant getting hit until I read, A wall was damaged at the Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant but there was no environmental threat, a plant spokeswoman said.
Semi-periodically may have been a more precise term, but due to common usage in the English language, did not seem to have the right emphasis. Sorry for the lack of clarity.
I think the statement that the Black Friday incidents have nothing to do with Black Friday is too strong a statement, as the incidents on Black Friday typically seem to be about a Black Friday sale item, or a stampede - neither are likely to occur at a store any other day of the year. Without better data I'm willing…
Fair enough. However, your response was exactly the butthurt sort of response I've seen from extroverts when the focus of the conversation isn't them. Yeah, when there aren't extroverts trying to suck up all the oxygen in the room, introverts can go a little overboard patting each other on the back for how wonderful…
I can never help but be amused when someone makes a generalization about introverts and an extrovert gets upset, thinking it is somehow a slight against them. I'm also surprised how often I've observed this reaction.
I suppose it depends on why an atheist rejects the existence of God. If it is based on a rational argument, namely that it is irrational to believe in a God without proof (which is the typical argument) then it's equally irrational to believe in astrology without proof. If the atheistic belief is based on a…
So when the next Batman reboot fails, because at this point there's almost no way it can't, does WB cede the comic book superhero live action movie genre to Disney/Marvel? I don't see that happening either because there's a lot of money being made, but it's not at all clear to me what they will do.
