I'm listening to the audiobook. It's read by the author and it really enhances the book.

Also my name is Al. Really! Today is really my day!

That's what I came here to say! In terms of my own feelings of moral responsibility or whatever, eating at Jimmy John's is still worse than eating at Subway. It's not like Jared is the CEO of Subway.

Today I ate Subway because I forgot my lunch from home and it's close to my office. 30 minutes later I pooped my pants. This is a true story!

I prefer to call it a "Dad of the Year!"

I've been wanting to read Bolano for a while but hesitated to make that kind of time commitment. Would you say 2666 is a better starting point?

Just started reading A Tale For the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. Enjoying it so far.

[Incriminating story redacted] Vodka + Pedialyte.

I'm so glad to see Loaded Weapon 1 mentioned! I first watched it when I was way too young to get any of the jokes and inexplicably loved it. It's responsible for completely warping my sense of humor. I never see it mentioned alongside other similar films like Johnny Dangerously, though.

Yeah, I thought White Russians were universally known as a great tasting and really easy to drink cocktail.

Yeah, that scene alone is so terrifying that I can't watch Patrick Fischler in anything else without being deeply unsettled. (See also: the guy who kidnaps David in that episode of Six Feet Under)

I've had that exact thought. I'd like to find more games like Proteus but I don't necessarily want to try a bunch of mediocre games in that genre (if you can call it that) to find them. I also wonder if I would have liked Proteus as much if I just stumbled across it myself, as opposed to hearing all the critical

If it's more playable than The Binding of Isaac, which has cost me hundreds of hours of my life, I should probably stay far away…

Yeah, I really enjoyed the actual gameplay in Dust, and even the in-game art style, but the voice acting and cutscenes were so cringeworthy.

True. My kids are discovering the Mario back catalog now, and they play the first three and SMW with as much glee as 3D World or Galaxy. 64 is the only one they really get impatient with.

I loved the soundtrack to Dear Esther (and the game, too). A game I "remember by ear" is Proteus from a couple years ago. To play that game was to actively participate in the creation of the soundtrack. Pretty magical stuff.

Is the first season of The Affair worth watching? I remember hearing lots of glowing reviews of the first episode and not much after that.

Aw, this comment is sad to read now. :(

I want to go back in time to when I had never heard of this band.

I feel like I've heard of the band U2 now!
