But this is a feminist website! Everyone knows they would never post pictures of a naked woman without her consent. Duhhhh.

Yep. Not to mention that comprehensive sex ed is about a lot more than just the teen pregancy rate.
I would sort of assume that most interesting people are too busy doing interesting things to make time to compete for a mate on a reality show. That might explain it.
Er, I mean their KIDS Grandma's are 30, not theirs. That would be impossible.
There's also a cultural aspect to this. My mother works as a midwife in a Medicare clinic, and her impression is that in a lot of low-income communities having kids early has simply become the norm; she gets a lot of 15 year old pregnant women with 30-year-old Grandmas and 45-year-old Great-Grandmas. I think it's less…
My comment was directed at the person who said she thinks it's not unfeminist to say that women "should" be stylish. I don't have a huge problem with what the President said, although I do find it a little disheartening that style and fashion has to come up in a speech directed to a group of women. I don't think it's…
I was talking about you saying that others "should" be stylish, not what the President said.
Now that I think about it, actually. . .I'm not annoyed with the President as much as I'm annoyed that, in general, any speech directed at a large group of women is going to touch on style and fashion and beauty. It just represents how pervasive this stuff is throughout our culture.
I believe the thing that's unfeminist about that is in thinking that anyone should be telling others, particularly women, how they need to dress or act.
I dunno, it also feels a little condescending to remind them to 'focus on personal improvement rather than beauty and fashion'. They're graduating from Barnard, I think they've figured that out by now. It comes off as more "Studying is more important than shopping, tee hee!" than a serious comment on how…
I love the President in general, but. . .I kind of wish he'd just left style out of it altogether.
I don't think she's particularly laughing at the study? Her writing style is just generally along the dry and ironic side.
My head is literally exploding with confounding factors.
Sounds like the university for this lady: [jezebel.com]
"I went to Missoula to investigate the rape culture there. But I didn't go to any nasty bars where rape cases happen. I went out for a nice thai dinner, a ballet performance, then back to my hotel room. I don't think rape is a problem in Missoula".
Well. You are correct and I am so sorry that I asked you to clarify. Ugh.
I would agree with you if he was only talking about making a distinction between the two and addressing them both as problems; but he's trying to say that it's OK for adults to have sex with teenagers. I think a doc that took the angle that you're describing would be much better recieved.
Not all child molesters are pedophiles? Genuinely curious about that statement- I'm not sure why anyone would molest a child other than because they're a pedophile.
You don't HAVE to do anything. Many people are interested in examining what influences the way their minds work. If you're not, just move along?
So, basically . . .television is over.
