Why a V-10, when the A8 has a 12? It would certainly be cheaper to use the same basic block, rather than keeping two lines of engines above the V8.
Gas taxes will only work short term. A gas tax would only speed up our move to electric (and fuel efficient) cars. Any increase in revenue from gas taxes won't last long. We need a whole new revenue system to pay for it in 30 years, when most new cars are electric.

I do not believe your theory about sales, but I will admit that it is much cheaper to shove a lift kit under your car than to build an entire new one.
