For the love of god, THIS. Why do I need an app and an account and a phone, even, just to pay to refill my car?

North America isn’t a “charging hell” and this isn’t going to fix it.

Canada is slated for “a later date.” (Sorry, friends to the north. You always get shafted,”

It’s about fucking time.

You know what I don’t understand? Why every single warehouse and big box store in the US isn’t covered in solar panels. What the hell else are those roofs doing?

Not sure why they’re going in heavy on an app.  Just make it like a gas pump with tap to pay.

Tesla has a good system for this. When you hit your max charge, you have a 5 minute grace period then it’s $1/minute.

I doubt compatibility across apps will work as seamlessly as Tesla

I wouldn’t say 80-90 is absurdly fast - unless you’re plowing into other stopped cars.  Also, speeding 10 over the speed limit doesn’t save 3-4 minutes in Texas, given the size of the state, crossing the state on I-40 it could save nearly 1.5 hours.

Question: Is there any way to talk about the issues associated with new-money Chinese citizens without being incredibly racist about it? It’s the most fascinating part of trickle-somewhere capitalism and good lord are they difficult people, which I feel is on full display here.

It frustrates me to no end they’ve fooled people into thinking a flat dashboard with an Ipad in the middle is “futuristic” or “minimalist”, when the truth is...

Amazing how many less people buy a car when they have things like functional public transit, and cities more oriented around pedestrians and bicycles.

the ones sold in europe are german manufacturing.

I think you were looking at the Long Range. The base is $40k before tax credit.

Super cheap.

I hope this doesn’t lead to a change with other automakers making their styling, interiors and UI like Tesla’s.

I know there are a lot of factors affecting this, but it’s still wild that the more F150s alone can get sold in America than those top 3 vehicles combined.

These are not cheap cars.

Because the average consumer loves getting caught up in fads. Tesla is still the cool kid, an older kid, but the cool kid. and they are basically the cheapest EVs that look somewhat ok. I personally think the Y is rather ugly and I wouldn’t get one because of that, but their bread and butter seems to be their charging

As much as I despise Elon Musk, I’m really happy to read this. Tesla is far too important a company to the future of American manufacturing for me to want it to fail.
