What's going on here? What's going on is, Todd's overthinking it right into the ground yet again.

I didn't like it until I remembered that before now, Morse was best known as the lead in the 1967 musical film "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." I always figured that was one of the reasons they cast him, the in-joke was irresistible. And as a tribute and a send-off to Morse I found it poignant.

I think there's a huge difference between saying homosexuality can make someone insane and saying that profound internal conflict over one's nature can be the lever for a psychotic break. And in 1969, the social pressure against it was so tremendous that I don't think it can be framed in modern terms.

I reached the part of this article where the scene analysis of the wife's murder devolves into the kind of spectacular overthink that would make a James Joyce critic blush. I'm like "What the…." as I experience the next lurch downward of the AV Club toward becoming the kind of critic site that I once took refuge in AV

If this was really clickbait, it would have had a title like "You won't believe what Jaime did to Cersei!" or "Watch this three minute church video it will change your life!" or "QUIZ: Which GoT rapist are you?"

I love the fact that this show is so tremendously stupid that NO ONE has commented on how ridiculous the return of Natalie Zea is. Not just that she's still alive, but that it somehow made sense in this world (including to her) to let Ryan Hardy suffer her loss instead of going into witness protection with her.

Todd, this may be the best review you ever wrote.

HOLY SHIT IS THAT NICOLE BROWN SITTING NEXT TO OJ SIMPSON?

Where I've been really disappointed was with how they used Taissa Farmiga this season. She was one of the best things in Murder House and I think she's very talented, but this time they've given her so little to do except react to stuff that if this were the first time I'd seen her she'd be pretty forgettable. Like so

To sum up the sensibility of this article, Breaking bad is just no good because it doesn't follow the RUWELS!

I have to admit - when I started reading Todd's reviews, I was pretty annoyed, and I found them to be tremendously overthought. Since then I find his style has grown on me, as the actual insights seem to outweigh the times when he's seeing meaning in the clouds floating by.

I dunno, man, one cent seems like a lot to pay for that book. Even in hardcover. Especially in hardcover.

… next time: Rhoda?

This is what came to mind when I saw the premise of this article. It starred Sam  "Merlotte" Trammell. I liked that show, but wasn't surprised when it was cancelled, it seemed like something of an anachronism even then.
