indeed.

Just watch. That privateer team is going to absolutely sweep Toyota. And Nissan is gong to bring back the deltawing. Toyota is going lose

The thing is, for a very long time, the M3 was BMW’s halo car. For many, it still is. A halo car doesn’t have to be an ultra-expensive exotic supercar to be a halo car. It just has to be the most desirable car in the automaker’s range that exemplifies what the brand is best at, and for BMW, that’s the M3/M4.

It is short-sighted. Without such a “halo” car, BMW assumes the attitude of GM in the 70s. That is: “people will keep buying them, because that’s what they did last year”. Even GM sells a semi-super Corvette. If they don’t do another M-1, maybe they could make a 3-series that didn’t cost a fucking fortune to maintain

Get an old Honda Beat from Duncan’s and learn to play it left hand, like Jimmy Hendrix. Why be normal?

There are lawn signs near me proclaiming “We believe science is real.” This neatly sums up the current state of science-ness in the US. “Science” has become a surrogate belief system rather than a mode of inquiry. When scientists went over to the dark side and assigned political views to their findings, they started

You can keep any car on the road indefinitely; how much is it worth to you? With this car the maintenance cost is going to be considerably higher because AMG and because 170k. I consider cars like this a grenade with the pin pulled out.

I’ve been a member of Jalopnik for years and this is the first time that I realized “Miata is always the answer” makes the acronym MIATA.

And that’s the problem with black and white choices. This price is closer to meh than CP. But $4500 is too much, otherwise it should have sold. $3999 might actually get the car off the guy’s lot. So, let’s call it a lower case ‘cp’. Just a dealer’s mark-up too high.

This may in fact be the finest example of a well preserved turd.

This is an absolutely stunning example of (unfortunately) a POS car. Don’t feel bad Pontiac fans, I feel like ANY car from that era is a POS. If I wanted to get my Trans Am on and I had that kind of money to spend, I’d go with this:

If only there was a real Road course in America we wouldn’t need these pretend ones...

Am I the only one who blinks a bit at seeing the victim described as an “old man”? I mean, he looks to be about my age and that’s totally not old!

This Consulier GTP (photo from owner’s Instagram). Gets driven quite a lot; I see it all the time.

Peter (and all at Jalopnik). I love these sort of stories-keep ‘em coming!

1 word and 1 word only: PAO!

Pretty much all dealers are uniformly bad, at least according to what Jalopnik has been saying lately. I’m pretty sure the whole idea of car dealerships being the only way to buy a new car is the problem.

The 05 GT wagon is still probably one of my all time favorite cars. They were so refined for what they were. I still wish they released an H6 GT wagon, though.
