Can you really use your phone to trap someone inside a Tesla? Is that a good thing?

This is only a problem for losers who don’t use self-driving mode as our Lord Elon decreed.

Needs more stars

The manual transmission is gone .....though at only a five percent take rate, one has to wonder how many buyers will care.”  I’m guessing it’s close to 5 percent, but that’s just a guess.

Miles are shorter in Europe. And faster too, according the speedometer.

They may be designed and built by women, but all those F150s were made to stroke men’s flimsy egos. I want a world where women don’t have to design cars to make men happy. But yeah, thanks for the GPS so men don’t have to ask for directions.

“It is important to remember that many, many of our train cars go through entire weeks without falling off the tracks”

The planet isn’t thanking anyone who drives a car. The environmental cost to manufacture your EV, mine the minerals for the battery, generate the power to charge it, and ultimately dispose of it, is still enormous.

“the coolest SUV you’ll ever see.” Her majesty begs to differ:

You are so wrong. Sold my 05 Leagacy GT wagon 10 years ago and regret this choice almost every day. Easy NP

New enough that it will still depreciate a lot, yet old enough to require (many) trips to the shop. ND

I can’t be the only one to note that car/truck grills are getting huge at the same time automakers are transitioning to EVs. Will BMW continue with these vestigal bits of nostalgia forever?

Riley Mk XI is for sure the ugliest

Heather Firemist is the most creative name for a stripper ever. The car is not (quite) worth 14K. ND

EVs make up less than 1% of cars on the road, even though the Tesla Model S was introduced more than a decade ago. At the current rate of EV adoption, perhaps half of the cars will be electric by 2050. Not sure there is a business case for spending untold billions to satisfy a tiny fraction of car owners yet.

Jalopnik is run by 20-somethings (and Tom McParland). None are old enough to remember the Can-Am. That said, Can-Am 2 was pretty much F-5000 with fenders, so maybe the F1 comparison isn’t too far off.

So, the car has 200k on the clock and needed a new drivetrain at the 100k mark. I’m getting a sense of why it is being offered for sale. ND

A Jeepster from Italy? Doesn’t get more OG Jalop than that. NP

“If you don’t commute 300 miles a day you don’t need an EV with 300 mile range” is getting to be a pretty tiresome excuse. It’s been pathetically cold this week and I’m guessing a car with 196 miles of ideal range would maybe have 130 miles in the tank at these temps. So my 275 mile drive to the next state would

Yes, your Tesla is faster than my Volvo from 0-60. But from 0-350 miles (distance to my new grandchild) any crude farm machine will get there sooner. Also: while the Tesla’s interiors may not be “crude”, they are a few steps behind where they should be for the price.
