Having read through these comments (and the story) I must sadly conclude that EVs are still pretty much a hobby for rich anoraks, and not yet the turnkey transportation system that will save the planet. Missing from the story (by no means the fault of the author) is just how much worse my dinosaur powered car is for

This may be the rarest car that $21,900 can buy (there’s exactly one on Autotrader). But as we say here rare doesn’t equal “I want it”. ND

What happens when you modify a Harley exhaust? Is it then too quiet?

Must have left it in his other trousers on the Cayman Islands..

How recently did you travel to Germany? I am heading there in 2 weeks to see my son for the first time in more than a year. Any tips?

You, my friend, need a 1957 VW Beetle!

I’m feeling just a bit of Sir William Lyons last Jag, the XJ-6 Coupe:

My Daily Driver: Too expensive when new and couldn’t compete with the Mini on performance or the GTI on practicality. Volvo’s C30 was just late to the party.

Audi A2 is wonderful- a friend who lives in a country that isn’t the USA (where we aren’t allowed nice things)has one of these and it is all that you say.

Ford F 150. Not all of them, mind you. You asked “what’s the most overrated car?” I would venture all the $50k F150s in my neighborhood that are used as cars.

Mobility vans (they’re always vans) are stupid expensive and yes, lots of folks use them. This 1) isn’t a van and 2) isn’t too much $$

a persistent engine ticking noise (it was just a loose spark plug).”

it’s only three-quarters of a car, and is powered by a lawn tractor engine.”

Even some of the sports cars we revere had parts borrowed from the corporate bin. Since 2-seaters have always been niche offerings, manufacturers will find ways to economize in order to justify making them.

This is very helpful!

I’m with you here. Attended a couple of drag races and thought the same...

My dad came back from the second world war and never got one of these. But he would talk about them with reverence. Behold, the Packard:

IMSA put on a great show this weekend at Road America. Rain + sports cars is a recipe for magic and I loved every minute. Also: John Hindaugh. John Hindaugh could make a trip to the grocery store sound thrilling; a weekend listening to IMSA radio is almost like a cardiac stress test.

Kinda though the whole point of the Prowler was “We did all the hot rod things at the factory so you don’t have to”. No dice
