IMSA put on a great show this weekend at Road America. Rain + sports cars is a recipe for magic and I loved every minute. Also: John Hindaugh. John Hindaugh could make a trip to the grocery store sound thrilling; a weekend listening to IMSA radio is almost like a cardiac stress test.

Kinda though the whole point of the Prowler was “We did all the hot rod things at the factory so you don’t have to”. No dice

VW used to make simple cars where only a few things would go wrong. (which is another way of saying everything that could go wrong, would). This disappointed the VW engineers who were envious of all the things that could go wrong with, say, an Audi. So they created the Phaeton which has many things. That will go

Watching this was mesmerizing. With a crazy F1 race happening at the same time it was hard to know where to look. An amazing overtake.

The good news is it’s all fixed! Nothing else will go wrong! At least that’s I feel when I drive away from the shop. Or towards the next shop. At least you can sleep in it.

This is pretty much all the episodes of Top Gear but without as much entertainment value. CP

I’m in the spare bedroom with my 1/32 scale homage/love letter to Road America:

Trim strip is missing from Driver’s side front fender. Still might be the best one currently for sale. Definitely CP

NEP (nice enough price). Genuine question: Do carmakers really save money by using random bits from the parts bin? Seems an odd limit for designers..

TIL: There is a publication called “Pontiac Enthusiast”, which is apparently the market for this project. ND

Thanks for this post. For the past 50 years I have attended races at Road America but hadn’t heard of this. Truth be told the other motive for moving the races from the roads around Elkhart Lake to Road America was money. There were thousands of spectators for those “street” races, but none of them paid for a ticket.

Oh Pshaw- I refer you to the mighty Mercedes “pit stop” moment at last season’s Sakhir Grand Prix. The “best person for the job” probably had that Sunday off?

Long overdue- bravo to Mr Hamilton for making this happen. As unlikely as it sounds, Hamilton may still be underrated, both as a racer and a sports figure.

Exactly this- The TV coverage is inconsistent at best. We got to watch fucking lacrosse instead of the race start a few weeks back, and some tennis shit too. Indycar this season is awesome; watching it shouldn’t be so hard.

This is a red flag for me too. These things are Daily Drivers for most owners and this one needs a few more miles per owner. The car is cursed for sure.

Thanks for the (very interesting!) story. Not exactly a lot on my local CL to compare this to! I’m going NP. Italian, never see another one, make (weird) friends at Cars and Coffee- Va Bene!

No. BMW is now slathering that monstrous grill on everything they make. It is comically ugly, while the Z grill is a cool nod to its heritage.

It is a sad day when Tom has the wildest (but most correct) idea. Have you guys fired Torch? This is pretty much right up his alley. I’m in kinda the same boat as the writer: 50 kinds of (all the same) 2-row SUVs, but where’s the weird?

Republicans at all levels are just plain out of ideas. “Poor people are the enemy” is one of their classics, which they dust off from time to time whenever “brown people are the enemy” sounds too racist. This has nothing to do with saving $$ for the good taxpayers of Ohio.
