Five years ago the competition for the title “World’s Dumbest SUV” was not as intense as it is now. Still, I believe BMW has a shot to claim greatness in this arena once again.

Totally agree with you. For all I know the folks at Mercedes agree with you as well, but know that all these screens will sell cars to the intended (i.e. not you or me) audience.

I contest your premise: there are no useless car facts. Torch would vouch for this in between researching VW taillights.
The safety standards (in the US at least) assume a collision with a similar size vehicle. So, while you are no doubt correct about the safety of this vehicle vs one from 20 years ago, I hate the notion that I too must drive a behemoth just to protect myself from guys like this.

Where I live the whole neighborhood already has a luxury pick-up. Which, now that you mention it, they probably wouldn’t use to haul my crap because their truck might get a scratch.

I just wish this thing looked a bit more...different. The designers (or is Murray literally the only author?) have said they will sacrifice ultimate performance in favor of driver experience; I wish they had gambled a bit with the looks as well.
