Thanks to Jalopnik for adding this to the banner at the top of the page- makes it easy to find! (alas, I’m still too cheap/busy to buy cable so I could actually watch any of it..)

Umm, I learned stick on one of these too- belonged to my GF (now wife of 30 years..) Amazing; I owe my entire manual transmission career to a Toyota..

But, only the name is European. For that price, still not enough jalop..

Disagree- curved is like a factory installed resto-mod: they would have made them curved in the 50s if they could have. Plus soooo much better aero! I mean, that’s gotta be good for another (insert small number here)mile per gallon..

Wait until Bette (I love that name!) is 16 years old (or 12, or whenever the hell you’re allowed to drive in Texas). That’s when those Volvos we make fun of look pretty good. I have a 9 year old V60 and I don’t think there’s a better car on the planet for sending beloved teenage kids forth.

Mr Graverobber got it right: How does this idea pop into someone’s head? Every time I (hypothetically) got in I would miss this:

There is a Tatra T-87 on display in the design wing of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It’s an amazing thing and looks right at home amongst other modernist furnishings. I don’t think the Panamera will ever grace an art museum, but it’s certainly not ugly.

“if you’ve always wanted one”- Is there even one person that this describes?

These are supposed to be the best and worst at the same time, right?

“Volkswagon to Help with Spiraling Student Debt”

What a strange place-crosses the line from “collecting” to “hoarding”, I think

So, obvious question: other than a Land Rover, when is a CPO purchase warranted?

But they were over-inflated? So free maybe they could fix it by driving a small nail in each tire?

it’s Beige- that’s french for brown

I suck at golf, so the lack of club space isn’t a problem-the paint job IS tho; that’s nowhere near Golf Oil blue (at least in the pix). also: Busa swap anyone?

“World’s fastest amphibian car” This may not be a very high bar?

I own 2 cars. One is almost black and looks kind of blue in the sun, the other is a silver-grey that looks like a slightly different silver-grey in the sun. Every other car on the road is one of two “colors”: “Light”, or “dark” IS IT TOO FUCKING MUCH TO WANT A CAR WITH AN ACTUAL COLOR??!! I came of age in the 70s when

In 1977 it was a Rabbit, not a Golf (family owned one) SCCA had a bespoke class for these back then too. You’re right, though; the 3 Giugiarro designed cars did sort of do the same thing. But still, compared to now the VW showroom of 1977 was awesome.
