If they can, indeed sell these at this price, why wouldn’t Porsche themselves get into the business of stamping out BRAND NEW 911 SCs etc.?

Why is this news? Supercars are owned by 3 types of folks:
They’re not in Minnesota either-maybe they hate snow as much as I do.
My first car was an 83 VW GTI. I now drive a 2010 VW TDI wagon. The TDI is safer, way more reliable, and possibly even quicker (pollution shenanigans notwithstanding), than the old GTI. But when I sell the wagon, I won’t remember it, and I still kinda miss the GTI.
“And from an unlikely place—Wisconsin”- I beg your pardon? Home of Karl Middelhauve’s famous Mercedes 600 “Grosser” shop (ask Jay Leno)? Home of the Milwaukee Mile? Road America? Why is it unlikely that a Porsche shop would be in Wisconsin?
stunning- add the “shooting brake” version (some of us live where it’s winter all the damn time) and just spin off Miata as a separate brand, like Mini.
It’s like what would happen if professionals tried to copy stuff you could get at Pep Boys. This is just horrid.
Worst decade for American cars. Worst concept (see ads above). Crazy high price. Yep, checks all the boxes. CP
Your posts are the best part of my morning, but 2 wheelers are not my thing.
$27K for a 2010 Jetta TDI wagon, now worth about $27. Paid cash because my dad grew up in the great depression blah blah blah..
1) BMW 1 series
AGREE. Since pretty much no one will use these to race in (and those that do are likely racing against other 458s), yes, it does matter what they look like. And they look ugly. Not BMW ugly, but still, as you write, for that kind of money every last angle should look gorgeous, and they just don’t.
Whoa- it’s, like, one flaming thing short of a Mad Max prop..
