Here's one that may in fact qualify as irony: Here in upstate NY, the other year a bunch of motorcyclists were protesting the state helmet law. One of them had an accident (during the protest, I assume they were riding around places), and died from head injuries that could've been prevented had he been wearing a

Way to be late to the party again, Apple.

God do we have to do this every.single.time? Anytime someone applauds the Prius, or another other hybrid/EV another person chimes in with "but battery mining! but coal powers electricity!" and then we have to go through this whole ad nauseum explanation of recycling, source efficiencies, oil dependence, yadda yadda

I guess the Jetta/Passat/Beetle engineers will have a tough time getting their wings.

*Fixed your headline for you.

More info for you, Zac: Part numbers for the updated / recall switch ***WILL*** be new. Old PN switches will be bought back by GM. GM is doing everything possible to make sure no vehicle with a defective switch remains in the field. So, your hopes from Wednesday have been answered by GM. Update time for that story

Well that and the fact that a couple guys who write here have inexplicable piles of money (and the cars it can buy), thus obliterating, or at least obfuscating the egalitarian everyman car guy perspective from which the site should speak.

I bet that the cars with alien spider headlamps will be collector's items in the future. Just like the Corvette Split Window coupes, or the Corvette C5 notchback coupes.

This is idiotic. They should be embracing an American car maker, not trying to crush it.

Salesmen always crack me up when they say "'Mr. Whomever'" bought this product, so why wouldn't you?" I remember my dad's conversation with an encyclopedia salesman who came to our door.

When I was "pushed" towards an automatic FR-S when I test drove one, I assume it was because they ordered too many automatics and need to get rid of them.

I've run into similar bullshit. Salesmen generally don't like selling manuals because there's no resale if the car comes back as a used vehicle. At least that's what they tell me. So those of us who want a more difficult to drive car should dumb ourselves down for the people that can't drive stick.

That's typical, my wife had to put extra money down when she ordered a 5-spd firebird. They were afraid she would back out and they'd be stuck selling it. No matter what enthusiasts think, manuals sell slow and can hav= lower resale value s.

Amateurs...all of you!

I've had car salesmen try to tell me that the Automatic-equipped cars were more powerful than their Manual-equipped brothers. It was such an idiotic assertion that I didn't bother arguing with him, but I did try to figure out what, if anything, could support it. This is what I came up with:
