I really need to pick up the Atari 50th Collection and Making of Karateka. They both look great and are absolutely something I wish we had more of for classic games.
Generally, the goal of a free or reduced trial to a subscription service is to use it as a loss leader: you lose out on immediate revenue but make it up on the backend.
This just reminds me of the time I was trying Oblivion on my cousin’s Xbox and wasn’t really enjoying it so he was trying to convince me it was great because of how open and endless it was and literally while he was talking we were interrupted by an invisible wall.

On the flipside, I think it’s probably safe to assume that if Starfield is going to be as popular as they expect it to be, the number of Game Pass acquisitions they’ll get would probably be worth way more than making people pay up front for it. Plus, I imagine most people aren’t going to finish Starfield within 14…
While I’m bummed to see any game go out of print, the silver lining here is a lot of the games mentioned are still available in some form on other platforms. Many of them already have Xbox One versions that are still available for the time being.
It is weird that big services like Netflix didn’t come to the Switch. Like, there was a long period of time where my Wii U was my main device for streaming and to see so many of those services skip the Switch (AKA one of the most popular gaming platforms ever) seems so weird.
Sure, I get that. The fact that hopping between different systems is so seamless on Xbox makes it sound like a pretty good situation.
Yeah my original plan was to get a PS5 (since I skipped the PS3 and PS4) and hold off on getting an X|S since most games were coming to the Xbox One and I could always play the other games on Cloud. However, I kept coming back to the idea that if any major exclusives came out on Xbox I’d wind up getting a Series S.
It’s been a while but I went through a period where I did a ton of Xbox Cloud Gaming and I was super impressed with it. I remember being on vacation at a beach house and stealing wifi from the next house over and I played through both Halo Wars games over the course of a few evenings. It worked great!
Gotcha. Yeah, I could see myself doing something like that if I lived in a bigger apartment or a house but it hasn’t really made sense for me. That being said, I’m very close to buying another Switch for no good reason and I figure if I did that I’d just set up a second dock in the bedroom, so I’m honestly not that…
The leaked images (which look real enough to me) seem to show a detachable drive on the PS5 slim, so I’m choosing to believe that’s real.
Genuinely curious why you got both a Series S and a Series X. Is it something like one is in the living room and the other in the bedroom or whatever?
Yeah I had already decided to get a PS5 this generation since I had skipped the PS3/PS4 and most of the games I wanted to play were still coming to Xbox One BUT the fact that the Series S was so cheap made me consider picking it up. The big reason I didn’t was because I wouldn’t be able to play my large collection of…
Oh then yeah it’s just pure cost-cutting bullshit.
Can the 10-in-1 cartridge be played on original hardware? I don't know why anybody would want to do that but I am curious.
I mean, you’re right in that statements like this are generally filled with bullshit, but t’s possible some of the people laid off were hired to work on multiplayer and live service elements which have apparently been cut or scaled down significantly. So there is a world where the game isn’t affected... but even then…
Eh, it just makes me think of the weirdness in the MCU with Spider-Man, in which Marvel sold the cinematic rights to Sony and then licenses them back to include him in their own movies. Weird deals happen all the time.
