I really only ever check these lists to review the changelog because I think it’s interesting to see what games they feel should be replaced and what should they be replaced with.

Look I get that the slideshows are a shitty requirement from some dumb herb that presumably folks are trying to finish to hit a quote and move on... but these are becoming increasingly weird and arbitrary.

I think the logic is that games like Revenant Wings and Crisis Core (while narratively a sequel and prequel, respectively) are spin-offs in terms of gameplay whereas X-2 and 13-2 are more straightforward gameplay sequels???

Nice! I mean... I just replayed Alan Wake in the last 18 months so I don’t think I’m gonna take the time to replay it again, but still glad more people will play the game.

I get a lot of this is arbitrary but is referencing pee really somehow “worse” than cartoon poop emojis?

Okay, bud.

Honestly I could still see them keeping a console out on the market but it would just be for the hardest of the hardcore, since (to your point) ten years from now most people might have migrated to their PC, phone, streaming stick, etc.

C’mon just put them both in the submarine

I mean, I get that and I’ve also seen that as an argument for why Microsoft should buy Activision Blizzard, but I do not trust major corporations enough to think a “good” company buying a “bad” company is somehow going to make things better for folks.

One bed but only one pillow as well!!!

I dunno, I feel like Kotaku has done stuff like this with similar court cases or even leaks - remember all the interesting revelations we got from the big Nintendo leak a few years back - so this feels the same as that. I do think that a lot of these companies are notoriously private so whenever we can get some

Okay, but in my own experience, the vast majority of people have been thrilled at the introduction of online-only options.

My immediate question was “better than what?” but when I read the actual source and this is not at all what he’s saying.

I guess. I just have seen the shift from physical to digital happen in so many areas beyond gaming, so the idea that game platform holders are somehow driving that within their own segment rather than mostly just riding the wave doesn’t really stick for me.

Oh sure. Lots could change by then. For all we know, five years from now Microsoft might not be doing consoles anymore and is just doing Game Pass and streaming.

Bungie?!?

I’m paranoid that they’re gonna go for Capcom soon and I really don’t want to see Sega or Capcom (or Square Enix, as I’m also paranoid that’s on Sony’s list) were to go single-platform.

I mean I’m all for banning TERFs but this isn’t really what I was thinking.

I mean, whatever, it’s fine, but I dunno, folks; I think this one is a bit of a stretch.

Minish Cap is a perfect example of a game that knows exactly what it’s trying to do, does not exceed its scope, and knows not to overstay its welcome. Honestly, at times I think it’s up there with Link to the Past in terms of 2D Zeldas. It’s fun to play, super charming, and easy to play through.
