It’s built on the idea that men are uncontrollable horndogs and women are slutty temptresses. Just give every dude a chastity belt and only issue keys to their wives on their wedding day. Problem solved.

When I read comments from ultra conservative type people that are prone to the pearl clutching it just makes me think “You are basically indicating that we should all be afraid of YOU, not the other way around.” Because they 1. believe that men are just lustful beasts that simply can’t enjoy a meal with women they

The comments on that Matt Walsh post made me fucking crazy last night.

My hatred of Matt Walsh knows no bounds. I grew up in a religiously conservative community and people like him piss me off. Fuck the patriarchal evangelical conservatism that passes for his brand of Christianity.

“That was some weird shit.”

She has that whole “I’m saying I don’t care, and I’m going to spend a whole lot of time explaining why I don’t care” crazy vibe going on.

Nope, it’s not. The divide politically now is between cities and rural areas. Also, Florida was decided by a razor-thin margin; Georgia, where I live, has been trending blue for decades. Atlanta’s main county has had LGBT protections for years and now offers paid maternity leave. Our state also has free pre-K. Votes

So confused, and horrified, but let’s focus on confused. I investigate a woman’s pregnancy history and find out: 1. That she’s had 20 million abortions and one conviction for eating fetuses, 2. That she’s never been pregnant before, 3. That she’s had 3 healthy children, 4. That she’s actually a Martian. Okay, WTF do I

I know. She’s a great actress. Aunt Viv would never.

Oh dear. Aunt Viv 1.0, it’s been more than 20 years. Even if you were done dirty, it’s time to move on.

She’s riding the salt train but I live for this kind of extra.

I’m pretty sure that 99.99% of people are objectively not obsessed with this story.

I have also heard comdians say that people will laugh at all the jokes about any subject but as soon as one hit close to home they get all offended.

More and more, my response to people who want to police (shut up, you know what I mean) comedy is to tell them to fuck off. Tired of it.

“Not everyone has the means or desire to just pick up and leave where they are, and coal mining may be the only choice they have if they want to make a living wage.”

But more than that, even before Trump and even before coal started dying, it was just the way things were and still are in those towns. Comment sections like this one show the complete disconnect and inability to even use imagination to bridge the gap between life in the city and life in Coal County.

This! It’s not that anyone truly WANTS to be a coal miner. I think coal miners see the push towards renewable energy as an attack on their way of life, their values, their parents and grandparents, etc. That’s why they felt vindicated by Trump’s rhetoric about bringing back coal, and subsequently voted for him.

You’re not wrong, but people hate change, especially when it requires effort on their part. I have in-laws in the dwindling auto industry, and the tenacity with which they hang on to it instead of pursuing new ideas is a bit breathtaking. They’ll go down with the ship and call themselves American Patriots® before they

The pay actually isn’t THAT bad, though no one’s becoming a millionaire from it.

Getting rid of environmental regulations to save coal jobs is like getting rid of animal abuse laws to save the horse and buggy industry when cars were invented.
