Senna was leading Prost by about 50 seconds. Ron Dennis radioed Senna to slow down with 11 laps remaining, to ensure a safe 1-2 finish. Senna then lost his concentration causing him to spin into the barrier at Portier on lap 65. Senna contended that left alone, he would have maintained focus. Sort of the fore-runner

That footage actually came from the 1989 running of the race. For some reason, the only footage I’ve seen of the 1988 edition is the aftermath of Senna’s crash.
