I’m going to predict that they didn’t give a shit.

Sometimes I feel like the end goal of most of these articles is not to actually critique a movie, but to try to sell us all on the idea that movies should be didactic moralizing from beginning to end.
Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve actually read that one, though. Cool concept and themes, but the murder mystery didn’t do it for me. Down Among the Sticks and Bones was more my speed.
Each season, isekai makes me sadder. I actually really like Narnia-style “going into a fantasy world” stories, and at the outset of this craze I was really excited for a show that would take advantage of the trend to do something cool. Instead, it’s like everyone lost their creative ambition, and every show is the…
Okay, so... the king thinks he’s going to die because these moon elves are coming for him. First off, has this never happened before throughout the war? Has no one thought up a countermeasure for the moon elves? Well, whatever. But why the hell doesn’t the king just ride away until the full moon’s over? These guys are…
I agree that more reference might have been nice, but in my recollection the Spider-Man comics have rarely dealt with corrupt cops either. It’s not really Spidey’s “thing.” That’s more Daredevil or Batman. In Spider-Man comics, Peter Parker is usually the one with the issues, while the Spidey persona gets to be…
I’ve seen about twenty articles about this by now, but none has addressed why - if the add-a-beard technology was so much cheaper and simpler - WB didn’t just make Superman bearded in the movie.
I liked The Last Jedi, but for methat “unlikely emotional heart,” you mention was much more founded on Luke than on Rey and Ren. Maybe it’s that I read a lot of bad genre fiction, but I’ve seen the “Romantic Tension Between Nominal Enemies” game done a whooooole lot, and the Reylo thing played out as if checking boxes…
Eh, I’ve seen plenty of people who didn’t like Witcher 3. Most of them in the comment sections of CD Project Red articles. ;)
I miss the old Bioware. DA:O and Mass Effect 2 are still some of my favorite games...
During an on-stage interview segment, BioWare manager Casey Hudson,Anthem executive producer Mark Darrah and lead writer Cathleen Rootsaert talked about how they’re approaching their much-hyped action RPG. They seem pretty focused on story, and Rootsaert said they’ll be adding things to the game “for years to come.”
That made me do a double-take too, though my takeaway was different from yours. Like... okay, she’s hot. Got that. But come on. Maybe the mercenary’s some kind of sex addict, I dunno, but hotness only goes so far. He knows for a fact she’s a super-strong killer robot itching to turn the tables on him, and he just…
Honestly, I still can’t figure out why they had to spend millions on unsuccessful VFX work to erase the stache when they could have just given him the full superbeard at far lower expense.
I didn’t find the trolls as irritating as you did, I guess (my pet peeve enemy was easily the ancients, where you don’t even have the option of whittling away their health with clever axe throws, but have to just dodge around and wait for the flashing window to open), but I’ll admit to rolling my eyes when the…
Yes, I’ve played the game. Guess I just want to draw a distinction between “God of War” and “Norse mythology.” One is a very good video game. The other is the study of a set of cultural traditions. And the first is no more accurate to the second than is Marvel’s version.
Thor is such a TREMENDOUS prick in Norse mythology.
That also happened in the showing I went to. Then it got even stupider, as the guy next to me started explaining to his girlfriend that Captain Falcon was coming.
That disappointed me too. Ann pre and post Palace 1 seemed like different characters. She started out pretty cool, then just kind of defaulted into ditzy blonde. Her personal questline seemed to be mostly trying to tell me “Ha ha, Ann’s such a bimbo! Just look at Joker facepalming!”
And in equally shocking news, Luffy is still looking for that one piece.
