My union sucks (the executive board elections can’t come soon enough!), but the skilled trade unions in the area seem to know what they’re doing. If the Ironworkers start getting dumb, I’ll hear about it when my three year old goes to play with the neighbors’ two and four year old.

Journeyman base pay (before benefits) is right around $30/hour. Everything after 8 hours is time and a half. Saturdays are time and a half. Sundays are at least time and a half - perhaps double time, but don’t quote me on that.

My neighbor is an Ironworker on the job, and they’ve ramped up to 10+ hour days, with only every other Sunday off. It’s ridiculous.

I’ll be curious to see if SU’s football program gets off the ground this season. They might not even have a place to play, since the pandemic stalled the renovations at the Carrier Dome.
