I've played enough games like that. Hell, I remember playing Tales of Symphonia and starting the hidden Niphelm dungeon only to realize there are no save spots in it. That's not a short dungeon either, its like 2-3 hours at least if you know whats going on, complete with 2 boss fights, and you have to do it in one go.
