In fall ‘88 I was 17 and my first car, a ‘76 Olds Vista Cruiser, was dying (apparently you can only do neutral-drops a few times before stuff breaks...who knew?). One of the teachers at my prep school had sold his car to this kid who was a younger brother of a guy in my class. It was a 1967 Malibu, in Marina Blue,

At a glance, with that little ducktail kickup almost-spoiler line of the trunk...Dino. Either Ferrari or Fiat, they both had the same round lights, if I recall correctly.

One of the few things that has really annoyed me in all of the coverage of this crash is the repeated references to it being ‘a miracle’. There is no miracle here, the systems on the car almost all did what they were supposed to do, with only some very minor things that will have to be looked at (as per the published

The year was 1997 and I was about a year into an actual career (rather than job). I had a great little ‘86 Golf that I had worked on quite a bit...Neuspeed springs Boge struts, etc...the car was awesome. My grandfather passed away and my brother’s car did the same (he was in Minneapolis, the rest of the family is in

Why the hell do all these companies keep insisting on making a convertible SUV/CUV when nobody buys the damned things when they do? It’s one of the few examples of buyers actually being halfway intelligent and not falling for some silly trend. Convertible Muranos, Land Rovers, and others are overpriced, overwobbly,

That is a micro-tiny rear window! And, based on the vertical position, it looks like the rear view mirror is going to display...ceiling, and not much else.

What I don’t get with the whole SUV = high line of sight over other vehicles is that, with everyone else driving SUVs, you can’t see over the other vehicles anyway. Yeah, for a while there where SUVs were the exception it worked...now everyone’s got an SUV and they’re just getting larger and larger. You have to pull

That Boomer you mention is an imbecile. A mid-engined Corvette has been a dream for Corvette engineers and Corvette fans since the late 60s...further back than that for the engineers. Zora Arkus-Duntov wanted a world-beating sports car that could also be a race car. The CERV test vehicles he led the engineering on

Jason, you completely missed her point...it saved her life because she wasn’t paying close enough attention, and, worse, thinks she shouldn’t have to pay ANY attention. Ergo...Tesla saved her life. Personally I agree with you that she’s a terrible driver, and is further fodder in my argument that we should have

It’s almost like he’s channeling that SpiderMan meme from Family Guy...”Everybody gets one.” But...ok, I admit, I’m just a little flabbergasted by this whole thing. It just doesn’t make much sense to me. Luck isn’t tangible, there’s no tote-board keeping track of ‘near misses’. He could race another 10 years in F1 and

Oh, I agree...and I have two weekend toys, an ‘85 Vette (stop laughing! it’s great fun...when it runs), and a motorcycle. And, someday when I have space, I’ll have more. But I want my daily driver to be interesting and fun...AND ‘do the boring stuff, too’, as they say on the show.

You aren’t the target market for the plastic door cladding...look again at the pics comparing with/without...it makes the vehicle look more car-like. They were trying to attract buyers who didn’t want a ‘truck’, or ‘Jeep’. It also visually shrinks the vehicle a bit.

The answer to this, and many other questions, is Porsche Panamera. In this case (the ugly question), the 1st gen, as the 2nd is much nicer looking.

Nah, that’s too weird looking to be straight-up ‘ugly’.

But that’s not ugly?!?!

Where’s the mandate to phase out the REAL polluters...the lawn-mowers, weed-whackers, and leaf-blowers?

Anyone who has had chili or stew as a leftover should already be aware of this...it’s always better the second time. Always. It’s also often easier to cook when you are also cooking something else...so cook tomorrow’s dinner while you cook tonight’s and you’ve got your built-in one day of rest.

Driving a Tesla Model Y is a passionless but comfortable experience.”

I almost bought one of these new years ago...if the interior hadn’t been so utterly craptastic, I might have. The engine is, as you can imagine, very sweet...power in bushels and so smooth. The chassis is actually pretty damned good, too, with the only downside to the handling being slightly overboosted and remote

No, straight pipes don’t save lives...but loud pipes do, at least for motorcyclists. And, yes, there absolutely is TOO loud...a lot of bikers forget this. But you can get good volume from aftermarket pipes that are not obnoxious.
