This isn’t a driving song, it’s a walking song. If he said he would drive 500 miles, nobody would give a damn.

I don’t love the vocals (though I do like Ian Gillan), but this is an amazing driving song...it makes you drive fast, way too fast probably. But it has that propulsive beat that isn’t just fast, it’s...well, it’s driving. This song screams ‘driving song’. Plus, it’s about driving, so that helps a bit.

You’ve never been on a deserted highway at 3am going 120mph in an IROC-Z with ‘Thunderstruck’ blaring when you were 20 years old, apparently.

But this isn’t a ‘driving’ song...it’s just a song about cars. Driving songs are different...they work best when played in the car, make you feel like you’re driving (or want to drive) when heard, etc. Like “Highway Star” by Deep Purple...pulsing beat, one might almost say a ‘driving’ beat, fast speed, etc. Hell, ‘Thun

Times 1000...this is just a godawful song.

“Stay close to the candles, the staircase can be treacherous.” looks so innocuous on ‘paper’, but was possibly the best line in a movie absolutely filled with great lines. The candles being unlit was the obvious gag, but it was her delivery and timing...that barely-there pause in the middle and tiny inflection on the

After seeing the success that Formula 1 had in curbing the spread throughout their organization and the teams involved...and noting that most teams appeared to be using the same style of filtered mask...I did some research and found the U-Mask Model 2. It’s incredibly comfortable, very light, looks like a quality

Understanding of vehicle dynamics, understanding of the ‘rules’ of the road as well as the laws (the traffic system is a ‘system’, it works best when users do what they are supposed to...like staying right except when passing), always being ‘there’ when operating a vehicle...alertness, awareness, engagement,

There’s a lot of comments here about how they could have gone faster if they had the full 7 miles of the prior test versus the 3 in this one...but it says right in the notes from SSC that the “Top speed of 287 MPH achieved in 1.9 mile”. So, no, I don’t think the extra 4 miles would have given them an extra 50 mph if

The Semi is the one that I think a lot of folks are underestimating...the absolute biggest difference that can be made, emissions/environmental-wise, is with trucks. Cars aren’t ‘clean’, of course, but a hell of a lot cleaner than trucks...and the number of trucks on the road is absolutely huge. Plus, they are a

<sigh> I still miss Pepsi Kona...that was an amazingly weird beverage that I was addicted to for a while. Even stockpiled a few six packs, that my dad drank and complained about how bad Pepsi is compared to Coke. Yeah, he thought it was regular Pepsi. Anyway, it was very cool and I’ve never been able to replicate it

I’d imagine this will also hurt their lineup of car-related shows, as they seem to tie their scheduling around the racing broadcasts. Bummer. It’s already a pain in the ass figuring out when the Power Nation shows are going to be on...

I think you are selling Avanti way short...their history is incredibly interesting and lasted over half a century. If you want a pretty decent, yet still a bit incomplete, history of Avanti, check it out on ateupwithmotor.com (https://ateupwithmotor.com/model-histories/studebaker-avanti/).

Is it just me, or does that look like Johnny 5 with those headlights open? Thanks for that pic, had never seen it before.

Sure looks like a 289 would fit in that engine bay...but I do like the 2.3 Turbo idea. Especially with the modern upgrades they have these days that can get you up around 270hp at the wheels. I’m sure there are suspension upgrades (brakes, too) available, at least in Europe, so you could make this a pretty sweet

Damn, was going to post “Hubba Hubba Honda Honda” and see if anyone got it...of course, these days a quick google would have found that cover. I still have this issue somewhere, as I loved this story...but the sport coupe story is the one I want to re-read now. What a comparo test: SVO, Merkur, Starion, ZX AND Supra,

Really nothing else needed...let’s face it, the only thing that actually works is a deterrent that makes it far riskier for them to steal your ride. If they REALLY want it, they’ll get it...if they have the opportunity. So most things are to just slow them down enough to make your car less likely to be stolen in the

“...while Mustang is a mass-market sports car, and always has been”

Is that a concept or is that the production form? It just seems so...nice, really. Looks like quality components and build, styling is fantastic...but the wheels and tires seem big for its stated purpose (like on concept cars, concept bikes often have a lot more rubber then they wind up with in production form).

I’ve been a car guy since I was tiny...when I was little (6-ish), I could name cars makes, models and even years based on taillight pattern (to be fair, it was a LOT easier to do in the 70s). So, I read everything I could get my hands on that was car related. Magazines, books about cars, books about driving,
