But if you buy a leather jacket at retail and pay the sales tax once, then you sell it to me as a used jacket, I don’t have to pay the state sales tax on that second sale of the used item between private parties. Why are sales of used cars between private parties taxed again?

I would create the next great American supercar. We would build something fast and beautiful, but so outrageously expensive and idiosyncratic that we would burn through all of that cash and produce maybe twenty actual cars, which would still be heralded decades later as the pinnacle of supercars.

Dry grass was my first thought, watching him drive on a dirt road with high grass in the middle. Although he says he saw flames at the rear of the engine, a small grass fire could easily ignite wiring insulation, etc., and get a secondary fire going on other combustible material under the hood.
