“Change yourself to fix other people’s problems.”

This is not some innate cultural feature; merely sloppy, uneducated poor English; and people who speak poor English typically stay poor.

This is called “deficit mindset” and is about how people make assumptions from the way a person (usually a child) talks and acts that that child is stupid or unable to perform at a high academic level. It’s also prejudicial. Language cues and slang use are in no way related to a person’s intelligence, the same way

“In spades.” You couldn’t help yourself, could you? Just because you don’t understand AAVE doesn’t mean it’s not English. AAVE is not the “expressions of slaves and poverty,” it’s a cultural dialect. There’s a rich guy—you’ve probably heard of him—who can’t speak English worth a goddamn, and he’s literally the

This is a perfect example of racial bias. You just equated “sounding Caucasian” with speaking “properly.” “Speaking properly without give-away intonations, expressions and speech patterns which allow people to...discriminate against you....” also shifts the responsibility to not discriminate to the victim of the

Go fuck yourself. From deep down in the bottom of my very own whiteness, go fuck yourself.

You know, I see the point you are (somewhat poorly) trying to make, but that’s not the point of this article. The problem is that too many people see “speaking properly” not as a “human value” but as a solely WHITE value.

So.....

Shhhhh...

Of course you equate excellence with being caucasian...

It’s not an unpopular opinion. It’s a ridiculous oversimplification.

Having been married to a narcissist, I can’t help but feel bad for her. He was probably incredible to her at the beginning, she probably fell madly in love with that false persona, and he probably had her sign papers that will financially destroy her if she leaves.

Fuck this pie there’s no sweet potato in it

I wish I could help you but I’m far too woke.

I figure they’ll all be ordering Pumpkin Spice Lattes, in honour of their illustrious Leader the Great Pumpkin.

Ugh, I need to play Twilight Princess again. OoT 2.0 or not, that game (especially those character designs!!!) was phenomenal.

To me, Stranger Things is one of the most perfect homages to ‘80s sci-fi and horror. It’s an homage because it uses the same tropes and similar scenes, but it doesn’t let the nostalgia for those scenes overpower the actual characters and story. It combines that nostalgia with both great writing and great acting.

I actually commented on the vid when it came out but I’ll just share here too in case anyone else picked up on all of it. The Spielberg influences are getting mentioned by everyone but hardly anyone is talking about King other than maybe Carrie or Firestarter.

Rape is not a poor decision, it's a violent crime against another human being. No, it wasn't anyone else's responsibility to take care of her, it's called having compassion and empathy. Regardless, its was everyone else's responsibility to not assault her, to not see an unconscious person as a blow up doll with a

That fucking line about “This is different from someone being kidnapped off the street...” Yeah in that that rape almost never happens and the rape your boy committed is frighteningly common.
