I like it, but the characters are stupid as hell

I think the problem was the plot was handled in way that was like classic sci-fi where very little is actually explained and a lot is left up to the audience to figure out.

Loved it myself. Mostly for the cinematography, but hey, that's me. Can't wait for the many director's cuts that are sure to come that will fix some of the issues I did have with it.

Prometheus is going to end up being one of those Love it or Hate it movies isnt it?

While maybe a bit exaggerated, I do mostly agree with you.

The current big developers seem more interested in making money then in making games. So they make games that appeal to a wider audience by making them prettier and more accessible.
Meanwhile they have to justify expenses to the various management locations,

Exactly, today publishers except maybe nintendo don't give a shit about who is the leader/designer on a game project since he doesn't ahve the power anymore. They think that what makes a great game is a renowned hollywood writer/actors and a shitload of marketing.

I don't disagree that huge budgets aren't necessary, per se, to make great games.

But to say that the greastest games in history were not big budget ones is kind of stretching it.

What you want to say is that it doesn't matter how big the budget is, if the people making it aren't able to make a good game to begin with.

You'll find that even a shitty fps today costs more to make than MGS2 on ps2 which has infinitely more art and soul in it.

M$ was doing what's best for the game industry??

DRM and semi-online requirements = KOTAKU COMMENT SECTION NERD RAGE

Nothing. One would hope they wouldn't be quite, THAT scumbag-ish though.

Except when that happens with Xbox One, you can't choose "No" and stay offline.

I played it when it first came out. You gotta remember that we were just coming from 2D sprites, 16 bit backgrounds, etc. This game looked like a work of art with it's 3d characters and beautiful backgrounds. Add CD quality sound and we were technically blown away! Past that, this was the first venture into the

You can try and that's where you state your side, but again, this is the internet. People come here with their mind made up. It's near impossible to make anyone think differently. Trust me I know. After you make your argument I say leave it at that because going beyond that just seems to eventually lead to flame wars.

I always felt so alone for loving FFXII, but now I know: there are others.

THIS.

I loved FFXII, so this would be an instant purchase for me. I know many people didn't like it, but the game made me feel more in control of battles since it gave me the option to physically run away if needed. I find that the random encounter rate on other FF games are a little too high sometimes.
