It’s not a Sikh turban. You can find those turbans in many Black beauty supply stores. Usually seen on older women, though. Also worn by Andre 3000 like 15 years ago.

He was remarking on how the fear driving the marketing of this shirt is not really well grounded in a realistic set of assumptions about other people who see these white women on a day in, day out basis.

Are you trying to defend underage sex? That’s...not a good hill to die on.

What a bunch of idiots, they should have come clean. Good for Harvard on canceling them. Hopefully this will help set a precedent for future occurrences from other schools.

I like that when anytime someone uses SJW in a derogatory manor, you know right off the bat what kind of person they are and can ignore everything else they say about whatever it is they’re bitching about.

Oh cry for the poor jester, for what will they joke about if they cannot make observations about race and gender and denigrate gays?

I would posit it’s not students, but the people opposing them and their safe spaces, that have a problem with history. It’s why people freak the fuck out if you try to talk about slavery, or the genocide of the Native Americans, or bombing Japan, etc. They can’t handle historical facts because America is only ever

Yeah, preach it Uncle Bobby. I love spending Thanksgiving with you and I really wish Grandma didn’t keep interrupting your speeches about Obamacare to ask “who wants more turkey?” or “who wants to help me clear the dishes?” or “maybe we should spend a couple of minutes in quiet thankfulness for the holiday?” Mom sends

And maybe when you have your own FABULOUS gig writing architecture blog posts you can criticize others...

I came across a man on his knees, with another man pointing a gun at his head. When I approached, they both started saying that the other guy was a synth. Fortunately, I chose the right guy to kill (the synth, on his knees).

I love that video. The random dudes all over the place is pros my fav part but she has a great sense of humor and I’m glad they included her. Though tbh Ben is so nice but he didn’t seen to have much of a sense of humor.

I think you’re stumbling on the whole private vs. for-profit distinction here. I provided statistical research for you which indicated next-to-zero expenditure on research and public service by for-profit universities, so I’m not sure what else I can provide you to support my argument further.

Public schools are not as bad. Not even close. Show me an example of a public school being sued into oblivion for shady practices and I’ll change my tune.

Those movies and commercials that cut everything out but smiling, quirky white people have had to strategically remove half of the city.

Full disclosure: I’m a Yalie (‘05) and the child of an academic (my mom is a PhD in Psychology) and the sister of an academic (my sister is getting her PhD in Social Welfare). The position of the Silliman Master and his wife is not the same as any other academic. Lots of academics hold controversial views and in fact

EXACTLY. I was in Silliman College when I was at Yale, and I can’t even fathom the idea of the Christakises’ predecessors sending such an e-mail even in far less politically fraught contexts.

Her tone and delivery and everything like that was perfect fine. The mere fact that her response to an email that basically boiled down to, “Hey, we would appreciate it if you tried not to be racist,” was, “Hey, we shouldn’t even suggest they don’t be racist,” is asinine.

. Her letter meant once again protecting the offenders at the risk of alienating the school’s most marginalized students.

Clover, this is some truly impressive reporting. Thank you for writing this. You covered so much, and with such care and nuance.
