It's interesting that when Apple alludes to killing the optical disc drive it is described as "forward thinking," "evolutionary," "pushing the envelope," and "ahead of the curve."

@Almightywhacko: you would get a decent bump on day 1, with maybe 3M sold in the first month and probably 0.75M would be switchers. Then as contracts run out, people would switch if necessary - which is moreso dependent on real world VZ iPhone reliability. That is to say, the slope of the curve after the initial

@RuckingFetard: Google should take away your capslock and you should realize you are reading a gadget blog

@MythOfEchelon: its to the right (I don't know why) with the article.

I often update friends on recent tech news they should be aware of - such as iPhone updates, new great apps, Google TV, etc. Instead of forcing it down their throats via email I'd like to start a basic blog with only the real important stuff and short & sweet (think Daring Fireball).

@MVarga: guoting Professor L. above you, its because of the "the usual misinterpretation and overinterpretation of science discoveries in the media, which is occasionally followed by disappointment."

@Rev Slow: isn't polished. or simple

@orangebluedevil: it has search...ouch...now i'm just talking to myself

@orangebluedevil: oh I forgot, it does need search though. I haven't needed it yet, but once I get about a year long journal - I will.

Great that Momento is getting attention. Nice post Kyle, although naysayers will surely say *in high voice* "this was on TechCrunch 2 whole days ago!" - that's never a good reason to not post something. Again, it's about bringing it to the attention of the Giz community because it deserves attention and not

@Coreboy: actually I later decided I saw it in Flight of the Phoenix...and Dennis Quaid is more credible than Bear Piss!

I've seen on survival shows they say you step farther out using the foot on the same side as your dominate hand and to take an extra non-dominate step every 100 steps in order to aim "more straight."

could the word "quietly" please be MORE overused?

@JakeMG: Internal Combustion Boogaloo: ok, maybe it used to be one of those iPod cripples that Apple is famous for. Like when they used to charge $10 for firmware upgrades. Absurd

This is so cool. Love the simplicity and the wood. If only it had a way to charge the iPhone. Probably would be difficult (but not impossible) to route the air chambers around a void for the cord though. Damn, guess I'll look for v2.

@n9n3: because the point is to attract attention and viewers, not to be accurate.

Actually anyone who was only 1/10th of the way up Mt. Everest yesterday was "taller".

This will be the biggest greatest phenominal-est timewaste-st magical-est event of the Job's Reality Distortion Field yet. And THAT is a saying something.
